Secrets Of Warcraft PvP – Mage PvP Basics
If you want your Mage to win big in PvP combat, you need to understand the class’s player versus player strengths and weaknesses. This knowledge is the fundamental secret to PvP success. Success in Mage PvP is like anything else. You can cut corners and get some early success. But if you don’t understand the basics, you’ll only get so far. The best players build their success on a solid foundation. Without that solid foundation, you’ll never reach the top. Let’s talk about Mage PvP strengths first.
Mage PvP Strengths
As you might imagine, the strength of a Mage in PvP is the ability to zap your enemies with magical attacks from great distances. Your potent attacks and huge stock of mana mean you can fry any opponent that stands still long enough. Any smart opponent will try to prevent that happening. Fortunately, you can usually immobilize your target with stuns and freezes, leaving them a sitting duck while you blast them. If you do it right you can take out most foes in seconds.
Mage PvP Weaknesses
It is great that you can usually keep your enemies at a distance. While your character is very strong in ranged combat, melee is a different matter. Picture yourself going toe to toe with a huge guy swinging a broadsword, or a wild animal on speed, while you’re wearing a bathrobe and holding a big stick. That’s your Mage in melee combat. If they get close enough to hit you in melee, you are dead meat. The chances of you surviving such an encounter are tiny. And if you do, you have almost no ability to heal your injuries. Frost-related spells can give you some protection in these circumstances, but face it, if someone gets close enough to whack you with a warhammer, rake you with claws, or skewer you with a spear, its all over.
So how was that for the 2-minute summary of Mage PvP strengths and weaknesses? But there’s much more to learn if you really want to rule PvP. A top-notch PvP guide can give you far more information, including specific instructions for dealing with foes that can counter your primary attacks.
