More and more people are playing video games nowadays and whilst I think that part of this is thanks to the recession and people getting more money out of a game than they do on a thing like a night out I will say that a lot of it is to do with the games having a much higher budget as well as being marketed very well indeed. They are also starting to appeal to more than one audience with things such as plastic model kits even coming with some of the most important games.

Take the new and upcoming Halo Reach as an example for this one. Although the game itself is not out until September the beta is already running and if the marketing campaign is going to be anything like the Halo 3 one then millions are going to be spent, you can already pre-order three different versions of the game. The very first is actually just the game. The next edition will consist of the game, in game Elite armour for the use in multiplayer an artefact bag, security badge and a Spartan II patch. The very final edition of the game will consist of all of the above as well as a massive Noble team statue and an exclusive in-game Spartan armour effect.

This model will be big for the people that are really into collecting things like this. I have also seen companies like Mega Bloks invest into Halo and release figures of the various things. I have also seen a remote control Warthog (from the halo franchise) so there are already things like RC Nitro cars starting to appear on the market.

So the next thing has surely got to be remote control helicopter based on things like pelicans from the Halo universe so look out for all kinds of models being released around video games.
