Today’s Best WOW guides differ greatly from the first guides that were available for World of Warcraft many years ago. In the beginning, guides were delivered as physical books or ebooks, and the user had to switch back and forth between the guide and the game, often slowing down progress significantly and defeating the purpose of the guide, which was supposed to allow players to level their characters much more quickly.

That all changed with the advent of a new kind of guide known as “In-Game” guides. These guides were delivered within the game, typically through a window that provides precise instructions on what to do next, and where to go. Efficiency was improved further with the addition of in-game arrows and waypoints that showed players the way to the next questing spot. Utilizing the newest generation of WOW guides, leveling has never been the same, with players breezing through quests and getting from level 1 to 80 in record time.

There are two in-game guides that I found particularly helpful, and which I will discuss here.

First on our list is Zygor’s Guide, which is an in-game guide with a window displaying quests in the order they should be done as it tracks your progress automatically. Arrows inside the game show you where to go next, and the order of the quests are arranged in a way that will help you finish multiple quests in quick sequence every time you leave town. When using this guide, remember to get the largest bags you can afford because you will be gone from town for long stretches at a time as you knock off the quests. Typically, every time you return to town you will have 3 or 4 quests to turn in, and oftentimes even more. Dugi’s Ultimate WOW Guide is the other guide we like, and in many ways it resembles Zygor’s guide, including features like the optimized quest list. This guide includes an floating arrow above the player that shows you where to go next. We found this guide to be a good deal because it includes extra bonuses such as a gold guide and a pvp guide, however, we did find the guide to have more bugs than Zygor’s guide. While it is true that you can play the game well without an in-game guide, using a good guide does make you level much more rapidly than you would without one. Our testing showed that on average, we were able to level at least twice as fast as we would have under normal game conditions. We also noticed that by using a good in-game guide, enjoyment of the game increased since many of the frustrations of the game went away (such as not being sure where to go next, or where to find the location of a certain quest).
