Any World of Warcraft character that chooses the Jewelcrafting profession will gain several options for earning piles of gold. All of them can be very lucrative, making Jewelcrafting an excellent profession to consider for your character. Let’s talk about the two most profitable skills that a Jewelcrafter will learn.

Prospecting is your most profitable choice. This skill allows you to extract gems (including some very valuable ones) from raw ores. Once you know which ores to prospect, and the best ways to get your hands on them (buy them in the Auction House, mine them, trade them for finished gems, whatever), your character should never have to worry about running out of gold again.

Gem Cutting is another very profitable Jewelcrafting skill. You simply offer your services cutting gems into the jewels players need. You will find this approach to be much more life running a small business in the real world. You’ll need to market yourself and your services, and will profit from charging a fee to cut the gems your customers provide. It takes more interaction with other players than Prospecting does, and has the advantage of adding a social aspect to your game play and efforts to make your character rich.

While it is relatively easy to make money through both Prospecting and Gem Cutting, making the most money for your efforts, and avoiding boredom are something else entirely. Grinding through stacks of ore to find the gems can make you lots of gold, but it can be tedious, and even a money-losing proposition if you don’t know what you’re doing.
