How Your Druid Can Dominate World PvP

Even if your Druid has avoided it in the past, PvP combat is in their future. WotLK transformed World PvP. The shape of things to come is clear in the new real time PvP battle zone called Lake Wintergrasp, where the fact of life is always-on, real-time World PvP.

In Lake Wintergrasp you battle on the live server to win points you can use to buy a wide variety of rare and valuable items, including the new Heirloom items. These are items that any character in their account from level 1 to 80 and beyond can take advantage of.

Given the popularity of Lake Wintergrasp and the trend toward PvP combat in the gaming industry, there will surely be even more World PvP in the future. So let’s talk about Druids and PvP:

In World of Warcraft’s Player Versus Player (PvP) combat system, playing a Druid is a challenge. The class gives you lots of opportunities and options, but with those opportunities and options comes complexity. If you’ve already spent some time in the arenas, youmay have noticed that Druids are difficult to kill, but frequently the first target of the enemy. With their varied powers Druids are extremely versatile. This makes them prime targets for the enemy, while also giving them the tools they need to defend themselves, if only they know how to use them. In short, PvP as a Druid is one of the better PvP experiences you’ll find.

One disadvantage of the Druid’s flexibility is that their best strategy for dealing with each type of opponent varies. That means to get the absolute best out of your Druid (and why settle for anything less?) you need to master many PvP techniques. It’s hard, but certainly not impossible. Of course, if you have team mates, you need to be able to adapt your tactics to take into account their abilities too. Again, this isn’t impossible to do, but it takes a while to figure it all out by yourself.

Most players would agree that Druids are the best class for 2v2 arena play. A sizable minority would make a case that Rogues are better, but the Druid adds the most depth and interest to 2-person teams. A well thought-out Druid with solid strategy and tactics can own its opponents in duels, and can be the leader of a top-tier 2v2 arena team. And of course, these same characteristics make Druids welcome additions to most 3v3 or 5v5 teams.

Of course, to get the most out of your Druid in PvP play, you need to know not only how to use its strengths, but how to compensate for its PvP weaknesses too. You also need to equip your Druid with the right gear to increase your Player versus Player survival rate. Learning all this stuff is worthwhile, but very time-consuming if you try to do it all from scratch. Happily, others have gone down this road before you, and have been willing to write it all down in using a Druid in PvP Guide books. Choosing the ultimate PvP guide will save you many hours of trial and error as you get your character ready to dominate PvP combat wherever it occurs.
